A massive whitetail buck stands ghostlike in the thick pines as golden hour light filters through the canopy, setting his heavy antlers aglow with a warm amber rim. His dark winter coat blends into the shadows, but the sun catches the curve of each tine and the white of his throat patch, making him appear almost crowned in fire. Steam drifts from his nostrils in the cool air as he pauses, ears forward and muscles tight, every inch of him alert in the hush of the timber.
