Goliath — Legendary Wyoming Mule Deer Buck

In Wyoming hunting lore, Goliath is one of the most famous mule deer ever documented — a member of a trio of truly giant bucks from the 1980s–1990s known as Wyoming’s “Living Legends”. The other two legendary bucks in this group are Popeye and Morty.

Who Was Goliath?

Goliath was an exceptionally large mule deer buck that roamed the Wyoming Range and surrounding winter ranges in the 1990s.

He became famous — along with his stablemates — for his massive antlers and the difficulty hunters had in locating or harvesting him.

Of the big three, Goliath is the only one known to have been taken by a hunter; the others (Popeye and Morty) are believed to have died of old age.
