A giant mule deer buck steps from the shadowed rimrock into the glow of golden hour, his towering antlers etched in fire against the western sky. Velvet-dark beams sweep wide and heavy, each tine catching the last amber light as dust drifts around his hooves. He pauses on the edge of the cliffside, broad chest forward, ears high and alert, surveying the basin below like a monarch claiming his kingdom before the sun slips behind the horizon.
