Double Dragon is the stuff of Paunsaugunt Plateau legend—a once-in-a-lifetime typical mule deer that roamed the high country of southern Utah and redefined what was thought possible for the species. With massive, perfectly symmetrical antlers and unprecedented tine length and mass, many believe he would have challenged the Utah state record—and possibly even the world record—had he ever been recovered.

Photographed in 2019 by renowned mule deer photographer Brett Wilson and others, Double Dragon left a lasting impression. In over 20 years of watching and documenting mule deer, Wilson has said this was the largest mule deer he has ever seen and photographed, a statement that alone places Double Dragon in rarefied air.

During the muzzleloader hunt, Double Dragon was reportedly wounded and, as far as anyone knows, never recovered and never seen again. His disappearance only deepened the mystery, transforming him from an extraordinary animal into a true ghost of the Paunsaugunt—spoken of in hushed tones, studied in photographs, and remembered as perhaps the greatest typical mule deer to ever walk the plateau.

A giant lost to time, Double Dragon remains a symbol of wild possibility, unfinished chapters, and the legends that only the West can create.

Solid Wood Stretcher Bars

Our solid wood stretcher bars ensure that the canvas print does not warp or bow over time. The rounded edges and beautifully beveled sides of our stretcher bars allow minimal contact with the canvas.

Our giclee, eco-solvent inkjet printers are color calibrated regularly to ensure the most color-accurate prints. These bright, vivid, and amazing colors will resist fading for over 100 years and help your prints last for generations.

This option features a thick, archival-grade polycotton-mix canvas that is carefully hand-stretched over solid wood stretcher bars, then attached to our standard wood float frame. Overall thickness of frame is 1.22" (see attached image for details).
